We have one of those too, Jean! Except in our case, it's a clinker (a chunk of burnt corn) instead of ash. The ash from a corn stove doesn't really fall anywhere scoopable, more's the pity. It gets scraped from the surfaces during cleaning, and to be doing that, the stove is off and the ashes aren't warm. But a glowing red clinker? Toasty! It can also set off the smoke alarm some days.
